[求教] 想買 Synology NAS - DS214,唔識揀 !

我自己家中有用 NAS
(1) Synology DS710+ (Intel Atom D410 1.67GHz Single Core - 1GB RAM) - 3TB x 2
(2) QNAP TS-239 Pro II (Intel Atom D410 1.67GHz Single Core - 1GB RAM) - 3TB x 2
(3) QNAP TS-259 Pro (Intel Atom D510 1.67GHz Dual Core - 1GB RAM) - 3TB x 2



現在想在公司加一個 NAS 由我控制,希望我的手下 Upload 佢哋 D 日常報表及 Files 比我

同時我亦可安排 Share 部份資料比其他手下,唔使再用 email Forward

因只 Direct Share 给 Department Head 及其副手,故只用的人約 10 個左右

Admin / Account / Technical / Materials / Production / QA

考慮用 Synology DS214 系列 (DS214se / DS214 / DS214play / DS214+)

會裝 3TB WD Red x 2 (行 RAID 1),再連一個 External 3TB HDD (USB / eSATA) 作定期 Backup

DS214 & DS214+ --> Marvell Armada XP armv7l
DS214play --> Intel Atom CE5335 i686



正考慮 DS214play 或 DS214+

請指點迷津

另外,外置 Backup External HDD 方面

有没有一種有 Wake On 的 HDD Casing / System

即平時長 Power On,無數據上下輸送 --> Sleep Mode

當要由 Synology 作定期 Backup 時才起動 Wake On

我打算定每個星期日作定期 Backup

所以一個月只要啟動 4 次

再請指點迷津,建議相關品牌及型號

那 3TB Backup HDD 用埋 WD Red 得唔得 ? 或應用其他 ?

其實10個人低流量就DS-214都夠，如果計performance就214play同214+差唔多

Since the purchase of NAS and HDD via Henry hing, the difference of DS214 vs DS214play vs DS214+ are only HK$210~HK$250

I would like to get a more higher performance (with 1GB RAM) one such as DS214play or DS214+

Do you think the DS214play (Intel Atom CE5335 i686 - Dual Core 1.6GHz) or DS214+ (Marvell Armada XP - Dual Core 1.33GHz) is good as well ?

Which one is better as DS214play is cheaper than DS214+ by HK$250 ? But the CPU of DS214+ looks slower ?

DS214+ has Hardware Encryption Engine while DS214play without (but it has SD Card Reader and SD Copy)

This is the reason why I do not know how to select between DS214+ and DS214play ..... .....



From the link of the Backup External HDD device under Synology with hibernation support, I may just select WD 3TB My Book Essential.



I have both Synology and QNAP, I think Synology DSM is more easy to use and setup.

I hope Synology will allow the permission control for sub-folders as well later in their future DSM.

At this moment, I may need to create more folders for such control within the Synology folder system.

I find that we can able to set the permission for each folder, sub-folder and file ....

Yes, for me making use the available built-in function is a major consideration:

The Hardware Encryption Function for Files in DS214+ is more useful and important

The Hardware Transcoding Function for Media Streaming in DS214play is no use at all



Therefore, with the guidance from wmmokk hing, I will purchase the DS214+ with the help of Henry hing

The NAS = Synology DS214+ with WD 3TB Red x 2 (Internal HDD RAID 1) + WD My Book 4TB (External HDD Backup)
